Welcome to our “Adventurer of the Week” series! Each week, we will feature individuals that were inspired to make every moment an experience in Iceland by going out on epic tours with us that allowed them to interact with nature.

This week's instalment of our "Adventurer of the Week" series tells the story of Lowell and his girlfriend who were planning a trip to iceland, realised before they even arrived that there was way too much to do, and then added a few extra days to their visit! They came out glacier walking and ice climbing with us out on Svínafellsjökull near Skaftafell National Park

What motivated you to visit Iceland?

Iceland has been on my radar for the last couple of years, I developed an interest in landscape photography and was blown away by the photographs I’d seen of Iceland and realized that I had to go.

Several close friends had made the trip and said the best things about the experience, the people and the scenery: everything about it was absolutely brilliant. I was also hoping to see the Northern Lights and we were lucky enough to witness a couple of brilliant displays during the week.

How long was your stay? Did you travel solo or with a group?

What is one thing you will always remember about your tour?

Our tour guides, Philly and Jan, were also amazing: they were both knowledgeable and fun. They took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure everyone had a great time on the tour.

If you had more time in Iceland, what else would you like to see and do?

I’m definitely planning to come back. I’d love to do a tour in the super jeep and explore through some of the F roads. I also didn’t have time to drive through the fjords or much of the North which I’d love to do. We focused on the south coast but plan to come back to complete the ring road.

What tips do you have for people who want to visit Iceland?

Layers! We had a good set of hiking boots (highly recommended!) hiking pants, rain pants, base layer, fleece layer, rain jacket. It was essential to be able to add and remove layers as the weather or activity changed. My other tip would be to live in the moment and truly enjoy the stunning scenery Iceland has to offer. It can be tempting to try and rush to the next site instead of fully appreciating what is right in front of you.
