Adventurer of the Week: Savleen Goes over the Top!
| AllStrong Red Coat Game at the Glacier Lagoon
Savleen is running some seriously strong red coat game in iceland, and the colours really pop. When asked to describe her tour in two words, her exact words were “beyond incredible!”. That means we did a good job, right?
What motivated you to visit Iceland?
The incredible nature and landscapes of Iceland are what motivated our visit. We love destinations that involve thrilling outdoor hikes and activities so naturally, Iceland was a top choice for us! It certainly helped to hear raving reviews from friends and family who have visited Iceland as well and had nothing but good things to say about the country and its people.

How long was your stay? Did you travel solo or with a group?
Myself and my husband Akbar, along with two of our friends, were in Iceland for a total of 7 days out of which half of our time was spent in the Vík area and the other half in Reykjavík.
The Group
Which tour did you take and why did you choose it?
We decided to team up with Icelandic Mountain Guides for the Sólheimajökull glacier walk and climb and it was INCREDIBLE! Our guide was so knowledgeable and made the whole experience very fun for our group, showing us interesting spots and sharing great information about glaciers and volcanoes. They provided us with all the gear we needed for a safe tour of the glaciers as well. This was hands down my favorite activity from our trip!

What is one thing you will always remember about your tour?
I think the glacier climb is definitely the most memorable part of the tour. It was a bit challenging to climb but a very fun and rewarding activity!
Almost Over The Top!
What is something that you learned about Iceland that surprised you?
The amount of waterfalls we spotted throughout our trip! Simply incredible to see water spewing out of rock formations every few kilometers! We were also very surprised by how fast the weather can change within such a short period of time. For the most part, we had pretty great weather (a high of 12-14 C on most days) since our visit coincided with the start of the summer season in Iceland, but we did experience some rain, snow, strong winds and cold weather – all within the same day! It was truly amazing to have such long hours of daylight though – the sun would rise at around 4:00AM and set at 10:30PM, allowing us to explore Iceland to the fullest!

If you had more time in Iceland, what else would you like to see and do?
If we had more time in Iceland, we would have definitely visited the northern areas of Iceland. I would definitely love to come back in the winter for a different experience and to also check out the northern lights.

What tips do you have for people who want to visit Iceland?
My advice to people wishing to travel to Iceland would be to give themselves at least a week or more to really see and discover Iceland properly. Our time spent in the Vík area (Sólheimajökull, Dyrhólaey, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Black Sand Beach, Skaftafell etc.) was the highlight of the trip for me. I also recommend visiting Þingvellir National Park, Blue Lagoon and other areas of Reykjavík!
