Bjartur started working as a glacier and mountain guide with Icelandic Mountain Guides in the spring of 2014. He grew up in the Westmann Islands, in the south of Iceland, where he started climbing everything he could at a young age. He soon started to help out hunting puffins and climbing to find eggs. He joined the Search and Rescue team in the Westmann Islands and his passion for mountains took him to the top of Mt. Blanc at the age of 18. Bjartur is now an active member of the Icelandic Alpine Club and spends most of his time in the mountains.
